Point Network: August 2 Community Update
If you found this article accidentally and wondering what Point Network is, visit our website: https://pointnetwork.io
Hi, thanks for keeping up with Point Network news! Instead of tons of fluff, we’re gonna save your time by providing bullet points:
- Point / Internet Computer saga ended up with Dfinity developers responding to us, admitting publicly that yes, “current method of accessing Internet Computer is not decentralized”, but they are working on it. We suggested that we can save them years of R&D by integrating them into already fully decentralized architecture. You can see the whole thread starting from this tweet:
- People have long been accessing thousands of Ethereum dApps via centralized eth.link domain, resolved by Cloudflare. Yesterday, ENS Foundation lost control of it because they forgot to renew the domain (turns out it was owned by one developer, Virgil Griffith), so for several hours it contained link to scammy advertisements. This reality check was another reminder for many how fragile and centralized the current “web3” infrastructure is, and people increasingly start bringing up Point Network in such conversations as the solution.
- The first incentivized testnet is out! We’re migrating from Proof-of-Authority YNet to the first Proof-of-Stake testnet, XNet-Pluto. We plan to cycle through 4 testnets, 1 per week, and finally launching Point Chain mainnet on September 1. As you can see, validators are already signing the blocks: http://explorer-xnet-pluto.point.space/
- But, we need more validators, so if you want to become a validator on Point Network, fill in this form and we’ll send you the information: https://pointnetwork.io/testnet-form
- Our $POINT token presale is ending! This is the last two weeks for people to be able to get presale tokens and get an NFT badge on mainnet Point Social (and later, potentially on their decentralized LinkedIn profile) as early supporters of Point Network: https://sale.pointnetwork.io/
- For every presale transaction, if the referred user clicks the referral link, we pay 5% as the finder’s fee (Q3 quest on the bounty platform). Previously, there were not much incentives for bounty promoters with not many followers to talk about Point, because the rewards for a few followers are not much. But now, we think people will start recording quality videos and writing articles about Point, because 5% from even one $10k transaction is $500, and that would be more than most people’s Q1 and Q2 rewards.
- We’re launching the public sale in 2 weeks, and the mainnet in 4! Stay tuned for more news and chat with us on Telegram and in Discord!
Thank you for being with us on this journey to the real web3.0,
Point Network Team
